Counselling and Psychotherapy
I have a decade of experience in the fields of counselling and psychotherapy, and have worked as a therapeutic professional in both residential and community settings with individuals, couples and families. My passion in private practice is to help people early; the earlier you access therapy, the easier it is to feel the benefits.
I am trained to work with people in an integrative manner and have a Master of Arts Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Wales. This means that I am qualified to use a variety of therapeutic approaches and can tailor my work to meet the needs of each individual client. This is crucial, as I believe that every client has the innate capacity to make their life better; my job is just to help people relocate that spark. My aim is to make therapy a positive and optimistic experience; a case of making life even better rather than fixing what is wrong.
I specialise in the field of addictive and compulsive behaviours and am passionate about helping people to understand and experience recovery from such difficulties. These problematic behaviours can involve alcohol, drugs, food, OCD behaviours or self-harm to name some examples. I have written research papers in this area and work alongside governmental and corporate bodies to better understand and address such difficulties on a local level.
Therapy is an investment of time and money. As such, I am a firm believer in working shorter-term with clients to get people back on track as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.
As an integral part of my practice, I also offer a limited number of therapy sessions at a reduced rate to counselling/psychotherapy students-in-training. I also provide supervision for practising counsellors and psychotherapists as part of their CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirement. Please get in touch for more details.
I am a registered and recognised therapeutic provider for BUPA, Aviva, PruHealth and other major healthcare insurance providers. I also provide Employee Assistance Services for all major UK and Worldwide providers. I see clients for in-person sessions from my dedicated offices in Cardiff, South Wales. I also provide Skype and telephone sessions to clients at a distance and those with access difficulties.
